Hans Hietbrink – Chair, Northern Tablelands Local Land Services
Hans Hietbrink was appointed local Chair, Northern Tablelands LLS on 3 October 2013.
Hans is a high level manager who has demonstrated the ability to facilitate, motivate and achieve results.
In August 2012 he was appointed Chair of Border Rivers-Gwydir Catchment Management Authority. In this role he worked closely with the Board Members and General Manager in establishing the strategic plans and natural resource management projects in accordance to statutory requirements; overseen the performance of the key stakeholders; and the review of policies and procedures.
Hans represents the Authority on the Council of Chairs and in the wider community. Hans is also a Councillor of Guyra Shire Council and has held the position of Mayor since 2008.
Time on council has helped develop a broad range of skills including: efficient and effective resource management; communication with representatives of all levels of government; reviewing performance of key stakeholders to ensure council performance objectives are met; appraisal of council policies and procedures; and representing the wider community of Guyra in a wide range of areas.
Prior to joining council Hans worked as a corporate management consultant specialising in performance management and development for a number of years. He designed and facilitated a range of development programs for small and large companies, government bodies and industry associations, in Australia and overseas.
Hans joined the Australian Army in 1968, completed National Service, and was promoted to the rank of Major in 1979. On discharge from the Army he joined the Army Reserve and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1982.
